Amazon Fire TV was launched into the market last year, however it has already been updated. Inspired Dwellings would like to tell you about what it is offering, to help you with your decision with purchasing an Amazon Fire TV, or simply upgrading to the new one.
What is Amazon Fire TV?
The Amazon Fire TV is a media streamer in the form of a small box, which connects to your TV or video matrix enabling you to stream media via the internet. The latest version offers 4K streaming, provides upgraded speed and power, as well as increased storage options. Amazon Prime users however have the best benefits from Amazon Fire TV compared to those without Prime.
As a member of Amazon Prime, you have access to a vast movie and television show library via Prime Video, as well as a huge choice of music to listen too with Prime Music. Storage is provided for an unlimited amount of photos and you will get unlimited free next day delivery too on many products. Without the Prime account, additional costs will apply to certain content.
Design & Hardware
The design of the streaming media device has not changed much but offers 75% faster performance than its predecessor. It has internal capacity of 8GB, however you can insert memory cards for up to 128GB in capacity if needed. In terms of networking, Amazon have added a Gigabit Ethernet port to enable a wired network connection to offer more reliable streaming.
The remote design has changed slightly in that it uses Wi-Fi to operate over Bluetooth, and it comes with an improved voice search feature. The second generation Fire TV however offers additional voice search features with Alexa now built in, for example the search will generate sport scores, weather, and traffic information, as well as play music. This voice search function is however only limited to Amazon content.
Further, you can also use your smartphone or tablet as a substitute to the remote via the free Fire TV Remote app for iOS and Android.
With the upgrade comes 4K content. It is the first streaming box to offer 4K which is ideal as we are seeing an increasing amount of Ultra High Definition content being released. This 4K content can be accessed from Netflix as well as Amazon’s own Prime Instant Video service (only available to Prime users). 4K content will only be possible if you have a 4K television that is compatible with HDCP 2.2.
