Kensington Grand Designs

Home Technology Brief:

“A new build, this mews house will require consultation from the foundations to the finishing touches. The large underground leisure extension calls for a comprehensive lighting and entertainment system, delivering ‘cool’ and ‘relaxing’ in equal measures."

A Grand Design:

We work with architects on projects big and small, no matter how ambitious or complex. Interweaving our work with yours, we carefully plan each project through from laying the important groundwork to applying the finishing touches.

We collaborated with architects, Ian and Claire Hogarth, as they finally built themselves the house of their dreams - a house so stunning, it was featured on the TV show ‘Grand Designs’.

The Challenges:

The large subterranean leisure space and narrow upper rooms of this build had very different briefs, each of which required lots of time liaising on site. A complex new build, the fluctuating time plan of the project presented its own problems.

The Inspired Solution:

A demonstration in getting the best from a small space, this mews house transferred all the generic family living space to the original upper floors while hidden in the basement is a haven for rest and relaxation - complete with a mood lit spa and colour wash dance floor. The contemporary lounge area makes use of the lighting features to create a focal point, whilst a cutting edge home cinema utilises invisible wall speakers and hides behind bespoke joinery when not in use.
a system that made controlling the exquisite lighting simple.

And as the project encountered its problems along the way - planning permission delays and flooding to mention a couple - we worked with our clients to adapt our plans as theirs changed.
